tea cakes

maybe you call them sugar cookies,
either way,
they are the perfect Christmas cookie!

i had to get special permission to share this family recipe.
you'll LOVE it!
{and Santa will too ;)}

tea cakes

1 cup shortening
{yes, shortening. don't scrimp. use it. you'll be glad you did.}

2 cups sugar
{white}

2 eggs, lightly beaten
{crack 'em in a bowl and stir it with a fork or something.}

1/2 cup buttermilk
{i use a powder buttermilk blend  & add water ~ it's in the baking aisle by the baking powder.}

1 tsp baking soda

2 tsp vanilla
{be generous ~ it's the only way.}

5 cups flour
{all purpose white}

bake 350°F for about 10 minutes.

bring out the cookie cutters!

we made
Christmas trees

Santa & elf hats

snowmen
{the scarves are twizzlers}

stars

snowflakes

candy canes
{i tried different techniques. didn't turn out very well. any suggestions?}

presents

reindeer
{i tried to make rudolph ;) }

mittens & wreaths

i took a plate to my son's class Christmas party

& they were a hit!

Merry Christmas
from learning. living. giving!
